Review: Stardom 5★STAR Grand Prix 2017 – Day 6 – 2017.9.3

Viper, AZM & Natsuko Tora vs. Hiromi Mimura, Mari Apache & Shiki Shibusawa
This opener was a little too long and if you have seen any of the openers over the last few weeks it was very similar to them. The quality was good enough though even if it did feel too familiar. Viper pinned Shiki Shibusawa for the win. 1.75/5

Kay Lee Ray vs. Jungle Kyona
Both of these women continue to have a good tournament. Kay Lee Ray again displays great character work with her frustration at losing both in the 5 Star GP & the Mae Young Classic. This wasn’t quite the best match either of these had had during this tournament but it was hard hitting and passionate. Kay Lee Ray pinned Jungle Kyona after a Gory Bomb. 3.75/5

HZK vs. Mandy Leon
A much more convincing performance by Mandy Leon than the previous night. This was solid but not spectacular. HZK did well with a great senton off the turnbuckle and some solid grappling. The match had a fairly good pace which was helped by the fact it was so short. Mandy Leon submitted HZK to Havana Dreams. 3/5

Toni Storm vs. Tam Nakano
Tam Nakano continues to impress and Toni Storm gets back on track after a disappointing match on day 5. The match was good though again, both have had better matches in this tournament. It flowed well enough but Tam never looked like she had a chance of winning so there was no real stakes. Both wrestled well though and Toni Storm pinned Tam Nakano after a piledriver. 3.25/5

Xia Brookside with a great kick to Yoko Bito.

Xia Brookside vs. Yoko Bito
Wow, where did this match come from? Xia Brookside put on a really good show here with some great kicks (particularly impressive considering she was against the best kicker in Stardom), smooth grapples and a really fluent pace. I guess the fact this match was under 5 minutes helped but nevertheless I was very impressed with Xia. Yoko Bito has been on fire this tournament and won after a B-Driver. 3.25/5

Konami matched Io Shirai with some incredible kicks!

Io Shirai vs. Konami
Great match. I feel this is the first match of the tournament that Konami has really had the chance and time to shine. She certainly took it matching an excellent Io performance with some sensational kicks and some great drama with several near falls as they built to the finish. Io Shirai submitted Konami for the win. 4/5

Mayu Iwatani vs. Kris Wolf
Another great match. The first couple of minutes saw them trading blows and grapples before Mayu was sent to the outside. Kris threw Mayu into the chairs at ringside before trapping her in one of the chairs and kicking it. Back in the ring Mayu made a comeback before sending Kris herself to the outside and delivering a huge crossbody from the top rope. There were a couple of near falls before Mayu got the pin with a nice bridged German suplex. 4/5
